Video game developers SimulaMaker and PlayWay plan to release a virtual reality game title I am Jesus Christ in time for Christmas.
The game trailer shows a first-person view of the Bible story, with users playing Jesus through miracles and interacting with other biblical characters. The company plans to release the prologue game on December 1, with the rest of the game expected by spring 2023. It is the first truly virtual reality game. to give users a first-hand view from the perspective of Jesus.
The play chronicles the life of Christ from before His baptism through His crucifixion and resurrection. Users can only see the hand of Jesus.
The play presents many stories from the Bible, including Jesus giving Peter, James, and John the miracle of fish (Luke 5:1-11), turning water into wine at the Cana wedding (John 2:1-11), make the storm. on the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-25), and fasting in the desert before Satan’s temptations (Matthew 4:1-11). The latter event is completed with an electric ball thrown by Satan.
Beyond the dedication to acting as the Son of God, the game takes many liberties with the Scriptures. The creators give Christ the power to move without touching them and seem to be trying to explain how the miracle happened. When healing the prince’s son as described in the Gospel of John, Jesus is seen to enter the child’s blood and control the red blood with his outstretched hand.
Jesus also performed his miracles with the “power of the Holy Spirit” and must constantly add this power to play more, remove a member of the Holy Spirit to nothing more than the metric wheel in the upper right corner of the screen.
The company announced the game’s development in 2019 and expects that the full version will be released by the second quarter of 2023. SimulaMaker CEO Maksym Vysochanskiy said that he created the idea for a video game of the life of Christ over 20 years ago, inspired by animated films such as Toy Story and Shrek.
Another journalist Matteo Lupetti got access to the game early and described the developers as being “intensely honest” to the game by using the Bible a lot frequency as it relates to gameplay.
When VICE asked Vysochanskiy about the game’s potential to be criticized online, the CEO said, “We already have a problem with our trucks, but … some people want a good game like this.”
