Books are always better than their movies – The State Hornet

Dear book, since I was young, I remember my mother always told me “Read the book before watching the movie, because the book is always better.”

It’s basically been the rule in our house ever since and I’m glad for it.

In this diary entry, I explain why The novels are better than their film adaptations And why you should always read the book first.

Many popular novels have been adapted into films such as “All bright places“By Jennifer Niven, The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer and literary classics such as “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald

However, the novel I want to focus on this week is “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein.

This novel is one of my favorite books of all time and I would recommend it to anyone who likes emotional stories. The novel is from the perspective of a dog named Enzo, who tells the story of Denny, his owner, and all the twists and turns they put together, including Enzo’s hatred for stuffed zebras.

When I found out that this novel was turned into a movie, I was ecstatic; That is, until I found out that Disney picked it up. While I’m a Disney nerd, I just know they couldn’t make this novel into a PG-13 movie and keep some of the original story. That is exactly what happened.

After many conflicts throughout the book, there is one point where a 15-year-old girl named Annika, a family member of Denny’s wife, pushes herself towards Denny, an adult and asks for sex.

The whole incident started after Danny kissed Annika on the cheek as a formal greeting. She suddenly felt attracted to him. She cried, “But I love you!” with Denny often.

Stein wrote in Enzo’s voice, “She cried, and then she was in complete sobs, her eyes closed, her mouth twisted. ‘I love you!’ She kept saying, ‘I love you!'”

Denny rejects her, which is what we think will be the end of the storyline.

However, the climax of the novel finally occurs when Denny is fighting for custody of his daughter from his wife’s parents. Annika then decided to accuse Denny of rape.

The results of the experiment are good for Denny, but the details are unclear because the book is narrated by Enzo, the dog. And as Enzo says in the book, “I’m not there because I’m a dog, and dogs aren’t allowed in court.”

Disney, known for shying away from making movies beyond the PG-13 rating, eventually changed the final score overall.

In the movie, Denny’s mother-in-law accuses Denny of hurting his father-in-law by pushing him to the ground. They use this as a reason to fight for custody of Denny’s daughter Zoe, the eldest daughter. of them.

While it’s nice to see my favorite book turned into a movie, I’m disappointed with the missing plot.

When bookworms like myself find out that their favorite novel is being turned into a movie or TV show, I suspect it’s inevitable that they’ll get it wrong. The reason most movie adaptations are missing major plot points from their books is because of the movie’s running time.

Most films are between one and three hours long. When you play the book out, scene by scene and word for word, it can be very long.

Not only does the movie cut scenes from the novel that the reader might find funny or important, but the novel tends to be an immersive and complex experience.

In the novel, you see life through a dog’s eyes. But in the film, although the dog is present, it remains as if it passes through human eyes, making the experience less.

While the movie may be more visually appealing, the detailed descriptions found in the book can make you understand the emotions of the characters, drawing the reader further into the novel. Movies don’t always garner the same emotional response.

Books can be good for expanding vocabulary, knowledge and imagination. With movies, you will be shown the story automatically. In text, you can create those images yourself.

Whenever a novel is adapted into a movie, don’t forget to read the book first and decide for yourself if the movie is better.

Sincerely, a bookworm.
